Prom hair, i have shoulder length hair and layers?

also, it's auburny brown and naturally wavy/curly. it doesn't stay up unless i have a jillion bobby pins in it. i usually straighten it. i wanted to incorporate some trends into it, like braids or those fake roses that is a new high fashion trend. any tips please?? keep in mind that my hair is shoulder length, i can't just do everything!!
